Raden Rabindranat Hardjadibrata was born in Bandung, October 22nd 1933. After he had graduated from Jurusan Bahasa Inggris Perguruan Tinggi Pendidikan Guru (PTPG) -- later became FKIP Unpad -- (1957), he got a grant from the British Council to advance his studies at at exeter Department of Education, at Exeter, Davon, England (1958-1961) he wrote a thesis on The Problem of Vocabulary Selection With Special Emphasis on the Teaching of English as a Second Language in Indonesia. He has taught ITB students for English in 1961-1964. In 1964 - 1996 he has taught Indonesian language in Monash University Australia. In 1984 he wrote a thesis on Sundanese : A Syntactical Analysis and Sundanese English Dictionary.
